What is an orbital welding machine and why is it used for SS pipe and tube?
An orbital welding machine rotates the TIG torch (or the job) 360° around the joint under programmed control, so every weld gets the same current, speed and shielding. For stainless steel process piping in pharma, dairy, semicon, data centres and oil & gas, this gives consistent full penetration, smooth oxide-free roots and documented, repeatable quality that is hard to achieve by hand.
What is the difference between a torch-rotates and a job-rotates welding system?
In torch-rotates systems (Mini Orbital Welder V1/V2, Orbital Welder 8th Gen, Port Welder) the pipe stays still and the torch travels around it – ideal for long or bent tubes and site work. In job-rotates / component-rotates systems (Mini Circular Welders, Pipe Spool Welders, Column & Boom) the pipe, flange, elbow or vessel turns under a fixed torch – ideal for heavy fittings, spools and multipass welds.
Which joints can your pipe spool welding machines weld?
Pipe to pipe, pipe to elbow, pipe to flange, reducer to flange, flange to fittings, elbow to flange, tube-to-port (branch outlets) and linear / circular seams on vessels. The dual/quad spool welders (V3, V4, V5) weld ID and OD simultaneously on two stations.
Can these machines weld mild steel, stainless steel and Inconel pipe?
Yes. The range supports TIG with cold-wire feed and MIG, and the heavy Pipe Spool Welder adds MIG / SAW multipass, so carbon / mild steel, stainless steel 304/304L/316/316L, duplex grades and nickel alloys such as Inconel can be welded. Send us your material and joint for a trial weld.
What pipe sizes do you cover?
From 1/4" tube (Mini Orbital and Mini Circular Welders) up to 24" pipe on the Pipe Spool Welders, and vessels / large pipe up to Ø3000 mm on the Column & Boom Welder. Spool lengths range from 1 m to 15 m depending on the model.
Is weld data recorded for audits?
Yes. Data logging and cloud monitoring are standard across the range, giving full traceability for regulated industries such as pharma, medical gas, nuclear and data centre projects. Machines can also connect to the MachineData.ai platform for real-time monitoring and predictive maintenance.
Do you supply and service these machines outside Mumbai?
Yes. Mehta Sanghvi & Company supports customers pan India – including Gujarat (Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Dholera, Sanand, Hazira, Jamnagar, Mundra), Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi NCR, Chandigarh, Baddi and Jaipur – with demonstration, commissioning, operator training and after-sales service.
What is the delivery time?
Standard delivery is 20 to 50 days depending on the model; the Column & Boom Welder is built on request. Exact lead time is confirmed with the quotation.
